A portrait of Croatia in 100 images

#1 Hvar – Hanibal Lučić sculpture

Sculpture of Renaissance playwright and poet Hanibal Lučić, in front of the Benedictine monastery in Hvar, February 2011

The town of Hvar, on the island of the same name – one of the most popular spots on the Croatian Adriatic during the summer months – nevertheless reverts to its sleepy Dalmatian self during the winter, when its narrow stone-paved streets can appear quiet and almost deserted. Lučić was born in Hvar around 1485.
