Zagreb’s Britanski trg (‘British square’, often just called Britanac) is around 10 minutes’ walk west of the city’s main square, Trg bana Jelačića. Lined on one side with cafes, the central area holds a small open market (and an antiques market on Sundays) – and after the stalls have packed down, the stacked tables are a regular venue for chess matches.
